Developing SharePoint Online platform for better communication

Since 1971, the Coalition for Clean Air (CCA) has been fighting to protect public health, improve air quality, and prevent climate change. As California’s only statewide organization working exclusively on air-quality issues, it has paved the way for socially and environmentally responsible air policy nationally and worldwide.

To date, the organization has chalked up many successes, including a 70% reduction in smog in the Los Angeles area since 1980, more than 500,000 electric cars sold in California and over $2 billion invested in programs to combat greenhouse gases ( with $1 billion benefiting disadvantaged communities).

Challenge

The Coalition for Clean Air runs offices in Sacramento and Los Angeles, with dedicated staff working towards the goal of clean air throughout the state. Everyone on the team depends on good communication and IT support to facilitate the complex projects they are tackling.

For many years, CCA has relied on the use of on-premises servers to support their IT, collaboration and communication needs. But these servers were aging, and beginning to fail. It soon became clear that an upgrade to new and better technology was needed urgently.

Solution

CyberDuo was engaged to provide a solution to these issues. As CCA was already using Microsoft Office 365, the CyberDuo team decided that a migration to SharePoint was the best option.

This would shift operations from the on-premises servers to a cloud-based solution, whilst offering compatibility with the technology already in use. SharePoint offers seamless integration with Office 365 applications, whilst allowing the most up-to-date versions of files to be accessed from anywhere.

Results

Once the new SharePoint system was implemented, the Coalition for Clean Air saw an immediate and dramatic increase in productivity. Team members were able to work faster, and get things done from anywhere.

The natural integration between Microsoft Teams and SharePoint was another bonus. This made communication more efficient and enjoyable, and gave team members the ability to work simultaneously on the same document without confusion.

“It has been smooth sailing since we started working with them and we couldn’t be happier with their service,” says Pinky Cerritos, Office Manager at CCA. “Since the partnership began, Cyber Duo has ensured an efficient workflow by responding immediately to support requests. Conscious of our nonprofit status, they offer cost-efficient prices without sacrificing quality of service. With a can-do attitude, their team is great to work with.

“ CyberDuo and the Coalition of Clean Air will continue to work together to make the most of the opportunities today’s technology represents. With a solid, cloud-based IT system, the organization is now well placed to achieve even greater results in the future.

“It has been a pleasure to make a contribution to such a worthy cause,” says Victor Karapetyan, Senior Engineer at CyberDuo. “We believe in what the Coalition of Clean Air is aiming to do, and are committed to providing them with the best support and technology. As Californians ourselves, we certainly support the goal of creating cleaner air in our cities and suburbs.”
