Our client is a prestigious school in Los Angeles. They have over 1100 students at their school.
The Challenge:
Our client had email servers for students located off premises using Rack Space, while the faculty and staff had a separate email server on-site using Microsoft Exchange 2007. The inconsistencies between up-time and user experience created problems when students, faculty and staff collaborated.
Solution:
The goal is to create a uniform and reliable experience for all members of the school. In doing this, they wanted to move the faculty and staff email server to the cloud and combine it with the student email server rather than having them separated. They also wanted to make sure that every device using the platform would be efficient and easy to use, allowing for reliable and easy collaboration. The best solution was to migrate emails, calendars, and contacts from the other mail servers to G Suite. With the move, the school employed a group of G Suite experts to train and support students, staff, and faculty with their new G Suite accounts in order to make this move easier for everyone.
Results:
The move from the old email servers to G Suite was a success. Members of the school have started to prefer the Drive feature of G Suite rather than use their network folders. The communication is reliable and user-friendly. This was also nice for the IT staff who have gotten less support requests. Regular school operations have been moved to Google Docs, making collaboration easier and allowing faculty to work from anywhere. Students were also able to work on any device with Docs, Slides, and Sheets. This made school more efficient for the students, and communication easier for teachers.
